Nowadays, children are placed under an enormous amount of pressure by their parents to become successful in life. There are various factors driving this trend, and while some may view this as a positive phenomenon, I firmly believe that its negative aspects outweigh the positive ones.
There are several reasons why parents are exerting a lot of pressure on their children. One reason for this development is the desire for their children to secure a bright future.Parents often believe that pushing their children to has ideal appearance and academic excellence could increase their chances of gaining admission to prestigious universities and eventually securing lucrative careers.Another contributing factor is societal expectations. This can be seen in the case of Asian families where a child’s academic achievements are seen as the reputation of the family so that they often push their children to attain the highest academic standing in school.
However, I contend that this trend has several drawbacks.Firstly, this pressure can have adverse effects on children’s mental health. They may constantly worry about failing to meet their parents’ expectations, such as achieving good grades or performing well on standardized tests, and eventually lead to chronic stress or anxiety.Secondly, putting a lot of pressure on children can also strain parent-child relationships.Children may feel unappreciated by their parents, while parents may feel frustrated or disappointed if their children do not meet their expectations, resulting in conflicts and breakdowns in communication.
In conclusion, parents are placing significant pressure on their children to secure a bright future and meet societal expectations. However,I believe that this development could have adverse effects on children’s mental health and strain parent-child relationships. In order to mitigate these risks,it is advisable to foster open and honest communication between parents and children.
