News and current affairs have been a part of people’s daily lives. Nowadays, with the rise of violence around the world, the public appears to be more interested about bad news and, most likely than not, they ignore good news. A lot of people would like to hear more reports about crimes and wars. But I believe that there should be a balance between good and bad news. Good news is also relevant in a person’s life as it helps in creating a positive space where love is present.
Many people nowadays are interested in crime-related TV series and war documentaries. They find the thrill of solving a murder or they learn from the strategies made by soldiers in the midst of a battle. This is why most of them are also hooked with news related to crimes and wars, simply because they get the adreline rush in knowing that they need to solve a mystery. Furthermore, in many instances, people become cautious about their surroundings and avoid places where violence can occur. However, I believe that there should be a balance in the broadcast of good and bad news.
Good news is an important part of the society as it makes people experience positivity. Take a look at the first Olympic gold medal of the Philippines in 2020, which was won by weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz. When the country learned about it in the news, the entire country was filled with joy and pride. This also fuelled the athletes to take their training seriously. As a result, after 2 years, the Philippines once again won gold medals which was achieved by gymnast Carlos Yulo.
In conclusion, both good news and bad news are important in our society. Therefore, people should find their interest in both, and these news should be broadcasted in a balanced way.
