Band 6+: people in all modern societies use drugs, but today’s youth are experimenting with both legal and illegal drugs, and at an early age. some sociologists claim that parents and other members of society often set a bad example. discuss the cause and effects of widespread drug abuse by young people. make any recommendations you feel are necessary to help fight youth drug abuse.

Recently, experts’ assumption about the causes of the widespread use of drugs in the young generation has led to a persistent issue in modern societies. From my own perspective, I believe that there are various reasons and effects behind this phenomenon.

To begin with, the causes for this problem are varied. Firstly, the sociologists’ claim is logical that there are objective reasons why drugs influenced the youth. Indeed, the imitation of adults’ bad habits by young people has affected their mindset and opinion about drug usage. As a consequence, they normalized that action and started doing it. Furthermore, there are several families who overlooked the teaching of knowledge and the legitimation of drug usage to their children, which led to a negative impact on their kids. Secondly, a certain number of youth consider drug usage a sign of maturity and coolness, which is actually a misunderstanding. Thus, drug abuse is widespread in the young generation day by day.

Consequently, drugs have negatively affected juveniles’ both physical health and mental health. Physically, they may lose weight and lose their appetite, which can become a severe problem in the future. Moreover, drug abuse may cause financial problems due to the overspending for drugs. In mental health aspects, it’s scientifically proven that drugs such as heroin and opium are addictive, leading to the addiction of users. Therefore, they may get frustrated and anxious if not using it, leading to a vicious cycle of drug abuse. However, there are still useful methods to prevent this issue. Indeed, parents and schools should be responsible for forming children’s mindset about drugs through specific curriculums. In addition, governments should limit addictive drugs’ production and consumption in society for medical purposes and scientific purposes only.

In conclusion, I believe that the young generation is influenced both objectively and subjectively by numerous reasons as well as consequences. Either way, adults and governments should take action to minimize drug proliferation.
