There is a view that, the population of the 21st century is leading a higher-quality lifestyle compared to their ancestors. Despite facing some new problems today, people are having a better life quality than those who lived in the past.
Environmental problems are one of the main threats we are facing these days. Human-induced conditions – deforestation, vehicle emissions, increased industrialization, and agricultural burning – have exacerbated the existing problems such as global warming and air pollution. These detrimental changes are, as a result, taking their toll on the well-being of residents and animals alike. While local inhabitants are suffering from the asthma and similar respiratory issues, some animals have been driven on the verge of extinction due to their habitat loss and lower biodiversity rates.
Despite the modern aforementioned problems, the majority are living a much better lifestyle: thanks to the advances in the field of medicine, patients have finally managed to overcome medical conditions, which were once regarded as fatal, and identify symptoms more effectively. Since the advent vaccines, antibiotics, preventions and similar medications, we have become virtually immune to deadly plagues, smallpox, polio and to name a few. Consequently, modern citizes now have a much longer life expectancy, devoid of serious illnesses, and increased quality of life.
In addition, people have an opportunity of striking a good balance between work and leisure time activities these days. In the past, people would have to work rigorously to merely make their ends meet, and often, they would operate in adverse working conditions. Fortunately, these days humanoid robots and similar examples of advanced technologies have started substituting or accompanying humans in terms of performing motor skills: household chores and labor-intensive jobs. This positive shift has enabled users to spare more time for entertainment and leisure, which was impossible in previous centuries.
In conclusion, life today is not withouth its drawbacks. However, the problems are insignificant compared to the conforts of modern life thanks to developments in medicine and technology.
