Globally, many people research and study about their past generations to gain insights on history, yet some argue that it is beneficial to focus on current life and think about the future generations. I strongly agree the latter notion and believe that the advantages of living in the present outweigh the benefits of looking at the past.
On one hand, research and study of previous generations helps individuals gain more clarity on what are their family traditions and cultures. Also, they get knowledge on what kind of tasks their ancestors carried out and the challenges they faced. This helps them to follow a familiar path to success. However, this execution implies that they must sacrifice their career aspirations to continue the generational tasks. For example, successful businessman Ratan Tata studied his ancestors and their involvements in businesses and trades before deciding to pursue entrepreneurship and crushing his other career dreams.
On the other hand, living in the present helps in focusing on current life. Not only it gives a chance to correct the mistakes made by ancestors, but also opens new doors and opportunities. Individuals focusing on present can plan and execute their goals appropriately. For instance, renowned soccer athlete Cristiano Ronaldo overlooked his alcoholic father, and achieved great success in his field.
In conclusion, although researching and studying past generations can benefit in clarity, I strongly believe that the benefits of living in the present can lead the way to success and betterment of future generations.
