Band 7+: Prison is the common way in most countries to solve the problem of crime. However, a more effective solution is to provide people with a better education. Agree or disagree.

Crime is increasing at an alarming rate in many nations. The stringent step of imprisonment has been taken to overcome the problem of criminal activities whereas I opine that education is a more viable option to combat the issue of crime. This essay will scrutinise both aspects in the ensuing paragraphs.

To begin with, numerous perpetrators often commit severe crimes which can be susceptible for the citizens, therefore, it is imperative to reduce the illicit activities in society and safeguard the country, the prison will help lawbreakers learn life lessons so that other people will think twice before committing a crime. Furthermore, they are sentenced to prolonged periods because they have committed critical illegal activities and many victims have suffered in their violent criminal offences. The prison management system serves as a punishment to lawbreakers and eradicates criminal behaviour as they have a destructive mind to do illicit offences and make a crime-free society. For example, a survey conducted by the UK Parliament that the crime rate has drastically dwindled from seventy per cent to twenty per cent to make a convict-free society.

Secondly, education plays an indispensable role in learning the laws of a country because many prisoners are illiterate and do not know the rules of their nation. Educational programs provide a great opportunity for inmates in rehabilitation and law-abiding life which can benefit society by the reduction in recidivism. Moreover, educational courses augment the chances of job opportunities for criminals, for they are released after an extensive period of imprisonment and learn various educational programs; however, vocational training programs reinforce their careers. For instance, in India, prisoners are provided practical courses after release from imprisonment to foster their careers.

To recapitulate, considering these points, from my perspective, I am inclined to believe that numerous criminals have spent their lives in imprisonment for doing illegal activities, and this has become a major issue in many countries. Consequently, educational classes have alleviated the problem of crime by providing many learning opportunities and securing their future career.

Many argues that the development of modern technology diminishes the social interaction of locals in their community. Contrary to that argument, I believe that it is quite the opposite. Forming connections in local communities has adapted to the modern era where it breaks through technological barrier. Additionally, an individual’s attitude on making rapport has a […]
