It is said that preventing health problems and disease is better than treating or providing medicine for it, so the government should allocate more money into preventive activity. I strongly agree with this idea. This passage will explain about some benefit of preventing health problems.
Firstly, promoting prevention for health problems is easier for the government. The government could use their institutions which already established to promote healthy lifestyle all of the people. For instance, the school can be used to promote healthy lifestyle for children. This way of addressing illness is easier than trying to develop a treatment for the disease which usually will including advance research.
Secondly, preventing diseases is usually cheaper than curing it. If the government want to develop a cure for a letal disease, it will need an enormous amount of investment. This investment sometimes would not paid off since developing a medicine or treatment for a disease is not easy and often followed by a failure. So because of that, it is more efficient and effective if the government allocate more money into illness prevention activities.
Moreover, promoting healthy lifestyle as prevention of disease also has a better long term benefit than developing the cure for the disease. Once the government successfully create a healthy habit for their people, it will be easier to spread this habit, since one person can teach another person of how to live more healthy. So the people could act as government agent to promote healthy lifestyle in their own community.
From all of the explanation above, it can be concluded that preventing a disease is better than curing it because it is easier for the government to do it. Moreover preventing health problem also usually cheaper and has long term benefit. Because of that, the government budget should be allocated based on these fact.
