Release of carbon dioxide and other harmful gases in the atmosphere cause a heating effect which results in global warming. Rising temperatures are the most pressing issue of this century and needed to be addressed immediately . This essay discusses why global warming is dangerous for humans and what can be done to solve this problem.
Global warming simply means an increase in overall temperature of the planet. The rise in temperature is due to the release of pollutants such as carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases etc in the environment. The warming of the climate is a serious issue because it causes abrupt climate. Firstly, every year the summers are getting much hotter making it challenging for workers who work on field jobs. The hot weather also causes drought which results in drying out of crops, infertile lands and eventually loss of livelihood of farmers. Secondly, the winters are getting much cooler, in some places fleeing of residents from their neighborhood have been reported as the temperatures were unbearable. The rise in temperatures is also responsible for the melting of glaciers, which raises sea levels causing floods in port cities. Port cities are the backbone of any country’s economy as major trade happens through sea, hence global warming is also responsible for economic losses.
Humans are very innovative and always adapt to face difficult times. Since global warming became a serious issue scientists have come up with numerous ways to help maintain healthy temperatures across the globe. Firstly, we need to prohibit the use of non-renewable sources of energy such as coal and oil, both of which are solely responsible for the increased carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Eco- friendly replacement of oil and coal would be solar energy, wind energy, and hydro energy also known as renewable sources of energy. Secondly, we should raise awareness among the people as many people across the planet are facing issues and if we educate them, they will be willing to help put a stop to rising temperature.
To conclude, I’d like to say that global warming is a serious threat posed to the human race and we need to act fast and move towards renewable sources of energy so we can enjoy our time on this planet earth and make it a habitable place for generations to come
