The color’s influence on people’s feelings has been acknowledged by psychologists for many years. As a result, it is believed that decorating places should focus more on color-related factors. In my perspective, while I agree with this view for color’s benefits, it still could have some drawbacks , and how far color can impact individuals’ health and productivity will all be outlined in this essay.
To begin with, the correlation between color and feelings has been well-documented in psychological research. For example, most bright colors, such as blue or green, are assumed that they could render people calmful or happy, and they can potentially reduce stress levels. In addition, a wide range of workplaces, schools or hospitals paint rooms with white. This helps people going into these places have a sense of cleaness and feel more comfortable, thereby increasing their satisfaction levels, and productivity. On the other hand, many hospitals also use warm and gentle colors which are considered to have therapeutic effect on patients. This is because patients tend to feel less nervous and painful when seeing these colors, thus improving their recovery outcomes. These examples highlight that color not merely plays a vital role in people’s health, but it also can help workers have higher efficiency.
However, it would be clumsy to overlook potential disadvantages. There is a fact that not every person will have the same feelings when being exposed to a certain color. Someone can like a color because it gives them a sense of satisfaction, but others could be annoyed given this color. For instance, as aforementioned, white could trigger a sense of satisfaction, but there could be a lot of glare between white wall and light, which could distract other people from their work and even drive them mad.
In conclusion, it is clear that decorating places with proper color selection is really beneficial, particularly for improving people’s health and capacity. Nevertheless, it cannot consistently be efficient for everyone.
