Band 6+: Psychologists have known for many years that color can affect how people feel. For this reason, attention should be given to color schemes when decorating places such as offices and hospitals. How true is this statement? How far does color influence people's health and capacity for work?

It is argued that the impact of colour on people’s emotions, particularly in environments such as offices and hospitals. While some argue that colour can significantly influence individuals’ well-being and productivity. I do not agree with this statement. The reasons for supporting my idea will be outline in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, when people start a new job, their primary focus tends to be on salary benefits, and workplace amenities rather than the colour scheme of the office. Employees are generally attracted to positions that offer competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits, including well-designed workspaces, access to refreshments, and clear job responsibilities. Consequently, the lifestyle aspect of the office, such as colour, are often relegated to a secondary status. Furthermore, employees are likely to concentrate on their tasks, dedicating their time to generating innovative ideas and enhancing the quality of their work. Thus, the colour of the office environment does not significantly impact their productivity.

Conversely, hospitals are primarily concerned with providing quality healthcare, where patient well-being is the most foremost priority. Medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, dedicate their effort to patient care, often overlooking the colour of the surrounding. Effective treatment relies more on the expertise of the healthcare staff and the quality of medical services than on the colour pattern of the facility. While a calming environment can be beneficial, it is the accuracy of diagnosis and the efficacy of the treatment that ultimately determine patient outcomes, rather than the colour of the walls or furnishings.

In conclusion, individuals tend to prioritize essential factors over colour considerations in both office and hospital settings. Employees are more concerned with their welfare and job conditions, while healthcare professionals focus on delivering quality treatment and care.
