Band 7+: Raising household electricity fees is the most effective solution to the problems associated with power generation and environmental pollution. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective in reducing the environmental pollution caused by power generation?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent times, environmental issues stemming from the manufacture of power are the principal concerns of people in every corner of the world, and for some, increasing the cost of household electricity is the best way to address this problem. This essay will elaborate why I lean towards the viewpoint that this action would not be helpful and other more imperative measures that can be adopted to solve those issues.

To begin, there are two main reasons why I totally disagree that raising electricity fees is the best choice to reduce environmental pollution linked to power generation . The foremost one is that the average cost of power only has a little impact when compared to commercial and exploratory activities, even if it is undeniable that reckless energy use for personal reasons contributes greatly to energy waste and environmental change. Therefore, raising domestic energy utilities won’t help to resolve this issue. What’s more, this practice disproportionately affects low-income residents who struggle with financial burdens, and increasing electricity fees could exacerbate their difficulties, potentially leading to energy poverty where families are unable to afford basic energy needs.

Furthermore, it is reasonable to suppose that there are an array of alternative initiatives to diminish the environmental issues brought about by power production. The first rationale is that governments should take the responsibility in investing in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectric. More specifically, they should prioritize the allocation to recyclable energy infrastructure and technology, which may make a sizable contribution towards the declining reliance on fossil fuels and consequently mitigate the environmental pollution. In some European nations, for instance, they have been adopting renewable sources into the citizen’s activities as well as the production processes, exerting a positive outcome on their ecosystem. Another point is that it is beneficial to raise individuals’ awareness about the danger of environmental problems on their well-being and how to tackle them. To illustrate, through public education like campaigns or speeches, they may have a profound understanding about the impact of having a fresh environment on their personal lives and growth. This might lay the solid foundation in redressing those problems

In conclusion, I believe that raising domestic electricity costs might not be the best course of action when it comes to resolving power problems. It is possible that this issue can be resolved by raising people’s awareness and spending more money on renewable energy sources.
