In the modern world, the advancement of internet technology has really opened access to a huge amount of information about life in other countries. However, I think that cannot completely replace personal experience gained through travel.
Undoubtedly, nowadays everyone can find many interesting information about cultures and everyday life of people of other countries without leaving home. There are many online platforms, video blogs, forums where people enhance their impressions of travel, traditions and customs. Thanks to social media , it has become easier to communicate with foreigners and learn their way of life first-hand. It is convenient, fast and, as a rule, free.
However, live communication and personal experience cannot be conveyed through a screen. True immersion in a culture occurs when a person is inside that environment – hearing the language, feeling the atmosphere, trying national dishes, observing the habits of local residents. For example, it is one thing to watch a video about a Japanese tea ceremony, and quite another to attend it in person, smell the tea, see the rituals live and communicate with people. This creates an emotional connection that cannot be experienced online.
In conclusion, the Internet is a useful tool for getting general information about other countries. However, one can only truly understand another culture through personal presence and live experience.
