The debate surrounding the subject that should be responsible for the severe consequence of transportation to environment is on going. Some argue that it is only essential for the government to bear the responsibility while others think that individuals activities are the primary causes and they should deal with it. In this essay I will discuss both views and shed light on why I agree with the former.
First and foremost, attributing the problem solely to individuals is unjustified. Because corporations’main purpose is generating revenues by minimizing the expenses, delivering merchandises using containers and trucks run by fossil fuels is more accelerate and economical. If they invested in eco-friendly sources of energy, the substantial finacial commitment requires could strain domestic resources, potentially diverting funds from other areas such as goods advancement or advertisement, causing difficulty in business development. Moreover, in daily routines, eco-vehicles like buses or bicycles are convenient for commuting or short journeys, but when it comes to far destination or long-day travel, choosing trains, trams and private cars are more suitable. As the result, utilizing fossi fuels based vehicles is not individuals fault but inevitable requirement.
On the other hand, it is the government that should have duty for the problem relating to transportation. They have to handle this just like to deforestation or water pollution. Furthermore, only the state have a sustainable financial resource and considerable influence on people awareness. In terms of finance, companies that have money injections from the governments can heavily invest in the logistic part without affecting others, directly reducing the harm to environment from transporting products. While in terms if people cognitions, regulations supporting residents to use electronic vehicles con be implemented, also with the rules that limiting the usages of scooters.
In conclusion, the responsible of governments in the issue of transportation is heavier. They should have suitable rules and regulations to deal with it especially emphasizing on financial supports and people awareness.
