Some contend that schools are no longer essential in our present-day world since children can have greater opportunities to get access to networks to assist them with their schoolwork. I partly agree with this viewpoint due to the following reasons.
Admittedly with the rapid advancement of the internet, students can easily find the data they require. It is true that children’s learning can be enhanced by the information resources on the Internet. This kind of accessibility encourages children to learn on their own, pursue their interests, and personalize their educational pathways. However, the information is not always arranged in order and is not always true, this can lead children to have a lack of knowledge if they don’t get guidance from their guardians, especially their teachers. Making it inappropriate to replace traditional schools.
For this reason, I still believe that traditional schools are irreplaceable because of their distinct advantages over online learning. One of the most basic functions of formal schools is to foster students’ interpersonal skills experience which a virtual learning environment can not provide. In a formal educational environment, students can learn to collaborate, communicate, control their emotions, building relationships with their peers by taking part in group work. Interpersonal skills play a vital role in the development of children’s well-being and give them their own experience of their soft skills.
In conclusion, we can not deny the benefits and the convenience that the Internet provides students with their work and individualize their learning journey. Nevertheless, formal schools still provide children with unique advantages that online learning can not do. At last, both online learning and formal schools are two vital factors that make a successful learning journey.
