The necessity of assigning homework to students is currently being questioned. I strongly disagree with this statement because I believe homework is important for students to practice their knowledge outside of school and develop essential skills such as discipline and time management.
Firstly, homework play a crucial role in shaping children’s educational ability. From an early age, we know that children must have a proper education so they can manage to do the basic things in life such as speaking, writing and reading to prepare them for learning other things. Homework play a significant role there because we want the child to understand and apply the material that have been taught. The students must practice a lot not just in the school environment but also at home by doing homework. For example, the first subject of pre-school is reading in order for students to improve their reading skill they must practice it often and to ensure that the student is doing practice is by giving them home assignments to keep in track their development.
Moreover, by giving the students homework can shape their personality to a greater good. Because homework can give the students a sense of responsibility that they carry and understood from an early age. If students learn about responsibility and acknowledge it other essential life skill such discipline and good time management will follow. For instance, a student who learn how to do enormous amount of home assignment from different subjects and applied their knowledge outside of school will growth a sense of strong discipline in their personality. A small task in life will help them be prepared for a big one. When a student does not understand nor have a sense of responsibility and learning inside of them, they will be unmotivated of doing anything.
In conclusion, homework is more than just an school assignment but it is a key to student to develop their abilities in softskill and hardskill so it is a necessity.
