Band 4+: Several decades ago, most people in modern economies worked in the same organisation for the majority of their working life. Today, it is very likely that a person may be employed in upwards of a dozen companies throughout their career. Some people believe that job security was more important in the past, while today’s employees want greater job satisfaction and are therefore willing to change jobs quickly. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Unquestionably, every coin has two sides and so are the people. Society’s people are divided into two groups and therefore, security of employment has become a topic of debate among people. Some claim that job-protection was incredibly meaningful in former times, while present-day jobholders incline toward switching careers. This essay will compare and contrast both of the opinions along with my opinion which is in the favor of latter view will be discussed in a sensible conclusion.

Initiating with the points supporting first school of thought, firstly it has long been a historical fact that heretofore, toilers had a stable income and worked for the same company lifelong. The people who support this say that, it was vastly respectable and honourable to serve on particular company, subsequently get bonuses and superannuation benefits. Secondly, when I was a kid, the adults around me would get a job and keep the job for ten or twenty years. It was very unusual for someone to change jobs. In fact, it was just convenient to have stability and confidence in the future.

On its contrasting side, people who held another view point say that frequent change of work is one of the best ways to maintain a constant passion and personal growth that are beneficial for your career. Volatility opens up a chance to be independent and relieved from liability to the company. Furthermore, you may increase your income if you work for several companies or if you are self-employed.

To conclude, I would like to say that both these sides are judicious and I partially support either one. Established post is advantageous for professional promotion, as well as occupational flexibility is propitious for employment happiness.
