There is a phenomenon that several languages which are spoken by ethnic people are at risk of extinction with two opposite opinions. This essay may mention both views that
governments ought to save these languages with public money and others suppose that it’s a waste. While I confirm that saving these languages can be expensive, I firmly believe that it is necessary to allocate money to preserving minority languages.
On the one hand, saving minority languages is recognised as a kind of waste. With the development of society, a small number of people are encouraged to learn lingua franca for communication in the community. To be more in detail, most global companies offer their employees to be fluent in English which serves their job and contributes to work performance. Another thing worth mentioning is that public money is expended reasonably for public service and improving the quality of citizen’s life such as education, medical, social security,… instead of unused and invisible languages.
On the other hand, it’s worth spending public money on saving these languages which are communicated by a small amount of the population. First of all, no one can deny that each language represents cultural identity. Consequently, retaining and enhancing a sense of culture and national spirit are advisable to be encouraged and invested by the government. To be more specific, other languages take people to the beauty of other customs and traditions, and the lifestyle of each region.
