It is true that minority languages are at brink of extinction as, very few people usually conversate or bring these languages in day-to-day use. With end of languages, certain cultures and heritage will come to an end. To preserve minor languages, government should take necesary action whether it takes investments or any other resource.
Language repersent one’s identity and sense of belonging to country, state, or specific area. The language is a pillar of the cadre of culture and heritage representing beauty of words. Minors are always overshadowed by majority which leads to extinction of their identity. In war times or period of british colonization, language played an important role,as it was considered as a key to freedom. Emotions can only be expressed in mother tongue. Due to enormous use of english language ,people started focussing toward it .Like in my country due to 2% population of Punjabi people, Punjabi language was not marked official until 1967,which involved many protests to make it happen. Preserving minor language is utmost important as various ancient scriptures requires mastery in that particular language in order to get information and proofs from it. Government should introduce cultural programme of minor language and use it in official paper work, giving it standard rights. Schools and colleges can be regulated to add minar language as a subject .Sign boards and number plates in minor region should be in the their language so that these societies can be preserved.
Certainly, learning new languages are important but this does not mean to overshadow mother language. Minority language should be promoted to preserve them and majorities do not show wickedness towards them.
Arrogant people often let others down forcing others to speak their language but this type of action should be considered illegal. I greatly argue that government should spend money to preserve minor languages .
