Nowadays purchasing personal goods is one of the needed habit for everyone. According to some the trend of shopping level linked to a certain age groups and other factors are not included. I firmly disagree with this viewpoint as there are many other factors in shaping our shopping habits like financial stability, kinds of items and gender.
Our shopping behaviors are often associated with the age levels but it is not the main element to the way how many people refer to this leisure time activity. One of the main reasons why people’s shopping habits do not depent on the certain age levels is the income inequality. A normal person’s day-to-day life is filled with situations related to money, living expenses are very high whereas not all of the people are paid well . To be specific, that kind of people tend to spend their money in order to pay their rent, debt, for food products, taxes or for children’s education and when it comes to shopping, there might not be enough possibility to do it. However, for wealthy households it is like an every-week activity. Therefore, It is evident that shopping is common for wealthy people.
Secondly, the type of the goods is another case to the difference between purchasing. People over, say 50, are interested in buying historical goods like pictures, vases and carpets for walls, while the clothing stores are full of younger ones because the follow the trendy items. Furthermore, it is true that girls or women do more shopping compared to men. With much evidence showing that women tend to be keen on about this activity.
In conclusion, as we can see there are many factors that can affect on individuals’ choices and preferences in shopping like unequal distribution of wealth, culture as well as gender aspects.
