That all learners can get access to education at no charge has been a controversial debate. Although I concede that free education benefits the society in some aspects, I firmly suppose that such a priority should not be given to everyone. Some arguments for this opinion will be presented in the following, along with the drawbacks and the advantages of giving privilege to all types of learners.
To begin with, there are reasonable arguments as to why people support free education for all types of learners. The obvious advantage of the policy is that it creates equity for all communities regardless of their wealthy statuses and the education system they are following. Such a society is innovative and facilitates for every citizen; therefore boosting the satisfaction and happiness of the country. Moreover, when education can be preliminarily accessed, everyone equally has the opportunities to develop professional skills and enhance their knowledge, making the workforce more competitive and productive. Sweden, as a typical example, where anyone can get free education from the children to the adults who pursue a master’s degree. As a result, Sweden is one of the leading countries in economy as well the worth-living country in the world.
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that free education should be only provided to certain people who are unprivileged, such as the primary or the poor due to the difference in each nation’s financial status. For some developing countries such as Vietnam, investing in higher and advanced education for all may be luxurious. Instead, the government should allocate limited resources to those who are less privileged to make sure everyone can access the basic standard of education. Only by this way, can the government build long-term Sustainability as no one is left behind.
In conclusion, It’s true that generally free education is working well in some countries. I believe that such policies are not always valid all the time. It would be more sustainable and effective if funding is only given to those who can afford their education.
