Nowadays, some people are inclined to think that the government has to economically support writers, musicians, and painters. Their main point is that people of these professions make huge input into cultural development of the nation. However, in my opinion there is no real need to provide a financial help to them.
A lot of people firmly think that without support of the state, professionals like writers and musicians will extinct. This will lead to rigorous changes in the society culture. Supporters state that art and writing allow countries to keep their culture and national identity. That’s the main reason why the government has to provide an economical support to the artists. But in the modern world there are plenty of the opportunities to find financial support and gain financial freedom. The social media and internet resources give painters an opportunity to present other people their art. By doing so, their fun base can skyrocket in numbers. For instance, the writers can visit podcasts as guests. During the podcast they will share their ideas and views, which can make them interesting to new people and potentially attract sponsors. The musicians have the largest music streaming platforms at their disposal. Such platforms as YouTube music, Spotify, SoundCloud and many others are monitored by millions of people. These individuals are hungry for the new music and happy to invest their money. Also, the platforms mentioned pay musicians on a views basis what means they will have a monthly salary that always grows.
Summarizing all my arguments, I think that the government should not sponsor writers, musicians and painters. There are plenty of ways to make money and state funding will be just a waste of taxpayers’ money.
