Humans have evolved over time slowly and have set some rules, regulations, and rights that help them to form a society with well-being. People have their own preferences and their own idea of leisure. Some like to lead healthy life: containing balanced diet, some mild regular exercises, and positive mentality, while other might cope with life through acts like smoking and drinking. This differentiated choice raises a question whether people should be allowed to smoke in public places or not? As this is their human right too. However, I disagree to the statement completely because it disregards other’s rights to fulfill one’s.
Allowing smokers to smoke in a public places is wrong in so many ways, as it not only harms general public’s right, it also hinders the ethical standards of a society. Mass might argue they do not need to hide from the society or be away from them just because they have an interest which differs from majority of population, but humans have always created boundaries on different aspects of life from the very beginning of the human civilization. So, setting a silver lining to protect non-smoking population from becoming a passive smoker is not out of moral limit’s.
Furthermore, smoking can’t be considered as harmless habit because it affects the health of the consumer seriously, and if anyone is in the vicinity of smoker over a long period of time they will be affected by it too. So, just judging this argument of whether generalizing smoking is good or worse, through health perspective, it’s definitely not acceptable. Smoking leads to lung cancer and other many health problems, so exposing commoners who are serious about their health conditions to smokers just because them too have rights is extremely non-ideal. Smoking-area have been thing for many decades and have worked perfectly, so considering everyone’s right and social standards, limiting it to that is the best choice.
Therefore, we shouldn’t take the initiatives of pushing acts like smoking to generalizations and rather should be more focused on preventing it. Despite any arguments smoking was never good and is a curse to us humans, so trying to remove it from our world is much more ideal, and we should not allow it to become a common and acceptable thing in our home, society, community, or the world.
