With the advent of digitalization, which brought new technologies to communicate and potentially work from everywhere, new work’s formula were born, such as doing all the tasks from your computer, at home; also, some hybrid ideas were introduced, like going to the office once or twice a week only, while working from wherever you want the rest of the lavorative days. Clearly, there are benefits associated with these kinds of job, but there are also disadvantages.
For example, an employee can potentially be less focused at their house, if their superior doesn’t check whether they are working efficiently. Another drawback is that group projects might become more challenging, since it can be harder to communicate with the other team members. Additionally, staying at home significantly reduces the possibilities to know your colleagues, decrementing the human relationships of the worker.
On the other hand, an advantage is that, if one signs a contract for a job in which one doesn’t need to go to any workplace during a typical working month, then they are not obliged to move to another city or country, if the physical office is considerably distant from their current accomodation. Moreover, a job formula as the aforementioned ones is less time consuming, since the employee doesn’t have to reach their workplace, meaning that they have more free time for themselves or for sleeping. In addition, since they don’t need to go out to work, the amount of money spent for transport is decremented.
To conclude, even though both benefits and drawbacks have been detected for this topic, I believe that the first ones outweigh the disadvantages, since the latter can be mitigated, while the pros might help some people to have a better equilibrium between work and private life and to reduce costs
