While some argue that these relationships may negatively impact society, I firmly believe that the positives far outweigh the drawbacks.
Admittedly, environmental degradation is one of the major concerns. Over-tourism probably causes pollution, overcrowding, and damage to natural and historical sites. For example, the ancient city of Machu Picchu in Peru has suffered from soil erosion and structural damage due to the large number of tourists visiting each year. Apart from environmental damage, many critics also argue that international tourism and business may lead to the erosion of cultural identity. For instance, in some major cities, young people may adopt foreign lifestyles, ignoring their own culture.
However, despite these worries, I believe the positive effects of closer international relations are more significant. One of the main advantages is economic progress. Tourism and foreign investment generate income, create jobs, and support local businesses. For example, countries like Thailand rely heavily on tourism for national income. The other key impact is infrastructure development. Increased international attention often leads to improvements in transportation, public services, and city planning. For instance, to attract tourists or foreign investors, governments upgrade airports, roads, and communication systems.
In conclusion, although there are some drawbacks, such as loss of historical sites because of over-tourism and cultural erosion, I completely believe that economic development and improved infrastructure all contribute to the progress of modern societies.
