Topic of education always causes hot argues around it. Mostly, when adult people with own opinions try to explain their point of view to younger people with other position. Let’s look at both sides, evaluate each, and choose better.
On one hand, sure, the reason of getting education is future job, salary, and stable society position. Of course, for these purposes we need only very special knowledge, just what we are going to use in our profession. So, in a university we may focus just on important classes and save time, that we may spend on unnecessary lessons. When student finishes his education, he will have full baggage of knowledge, but nothing more.
On another hand, education should be versatile. When we imagine person with higher education, we imagine flexible, motley, and smart person, who can speak with you on a lot different topics, from physics to biology. And, I guess, if our system of education is versatile, we will be able to prepare not only a good worker but interesting person with flexible mind.
Eventually, I want to share my opinion. I guess the system of education should provide not only special knowledge, but more than it. Lessons of history, even for future doctors, lessons of the chemistry for IT workers, and so on. I’m sure, person with higher education must be smart in any sphere. Even if for it, he will have to spend more time for study than without unnecessary lessons. I hope, this will lead to a smarter society than when system of education will prepare just highly specialized professionals.
