Some people believe that, international news should be taught as a subject in secondary schools, while others argue that it is a waste of time. This essay will discuss both views, and I believe that students should study international news for at least one or two semesters during their education.

Firstly, individuals who support this idea believe that studying international news helps students become more informed and globally aware. This is an important topic because in the modern world, every area of life is closely connected, and the young generation needs to understand climate change, wars, politics, and economic trends. For example, if students watch news about environmental issues around the world, they can become more aware of their own behavior and might take action to help the environment. Therefore, teaching international news in schools shape students to become responsible and active global citizens.

Secondly, opponents of this idea believe that teaching these lessons at school is a waste of time. They argue that the young generation already has a heavy and challenging academic workload, and adding content related to global affairs may increase stress levels or take time away from more essential subjects such as mathematics or science. For instance, many students are not interested in media coverage, and some may find it difficult to understand complex global topics at a young age. As a result, these supporters think it is a better choice to focus on main subjects and leave following global updates to later stages of life.
