Increased isolation of criminals from functioning society is a commonly accepted notion to control criminal activities. However, thinkers argue that this might not be the best solution. I totally believe with the later. There are proactive ways of dealing with criminals, which promise order in society.

It is definitely agreed that the best interest of public safety can be achieved by isolating criminals. This enables criminals to think clearly and understand where they went wrong. Along with this, longer punishments will also potentially deter them from committing crimes in the future. Strictness of the punishments would send a clear and strict message to the public that it is best to be a law abiding citizen rather than breaking rules.

However, relying passively on time to treat prisoners has not been proven the best solution. Proactively improving educating, and criminal psychology is one way to trump this issue. Secondly, showing them ways to make a positive impact on the society is a powerful tool. For instance, sharing their stories and educating the new generation to stay away from crime can bring a positive shift. As a side effect, if notorious personalities are locked in for long, they might make it worse by planning prison breaks and simply spreading violence.

Considering both the views, though keeping criminals behind the bars sound like a straightforward solution to bring down crime rate, I believe educational programs, and experience sharing opportunities would make a stronger impact.
