Art has always played an important role in human culture, but there is ongoing debate about that government should support artists; however, the individuals’ need have to come first. This essay will discuss both views before I explain why I believe supporting both of them is crucial.
Many people argue that government funding for the arts is unnecessary. They believe that taxpayers’ money should be spent on essential services like healthcare, education, and public transport. These areas directly improve people’s lives and safe environment. In contrast, art is often seen as a luxury that brings advantages or benefits only to a small group of people. For instance, spending large amounts of money on building art galleries or concerts may not be justified when many citizens still suffer from medical care or health.
Nevertheless, supporters claim that artists play an essential role in preserving culture and inspiring creativity. Art can be expressed as a national identity, promote tourism, and bring communities together. Without financial help, many talented artists might not have the chance to develop their skills.Government funding, therefore, helps maintain cultural abilities and encourages artistic innovation.
To my mind, the government should support artists, but only to a certain extent. Basic needs-such as education and healthcare should come first. Still, giving a small part of the budget to the arts can help keep society creative and balanced. Public funding should mainly go to community projects or young artists who really need government assistance.
