In today’s rapidly changing world, it is widely considered that observing TV news and perusing newspapers is an unnecessary thing in people’s lives. While the statement could be reasonable to certain degree, I find myself in partial disagreement on this matter due to its potential drawbacks.
On the one hand, the main argument put forward is that, with the rising celebrity of social media, newspapers have become a useless thing for people. This is because, nowadays, a host of people are using online platforms, so those platforms have become a good way to get the latest news rapidly. The second reason is that reading newspapers can be a financial loss. To elaborate, people have to spend money purchasing newspapers, so this trend can lead to financial loss. Not only can reading or watching news lead to financial loss, but it can also be time-consuming. Because following the news regularly can take up a significant amount of time that could be spent on more productive tasks.
On the other hand,it is a fact that there are two main reasons for the usefulness of reading or watching news. The first reason is that perusing or watching news can broaden humans’ knowledge. To explain, regularly following the news enhances general knowledge and understanding of a range of topics from science to culture. Secondly, a myriad of scientists believe that news allows individuals to connect with the world. Hence, people can know about what events are happening worldwide.
To sum up, despite the benefits of reading or watching news, I believe that this trend is an unneeded thing in people’s lives. I think humans should spend their time on other special things rather than reading or observing news.
