In this contemporary era, the debate over the permission of smoking cigarettes in workplaces and public places has garnered significant attention. Some businesses and governments have forbidden smoking. I strongly believe this is a beneficial practice.
Initially, the harmful impacts of smoking on individuals are evident. Smoking leads to numerous physical and mental problems; for instance, in terms of physical problems, all smokers are at risk of lung cancer, primarily due to harmful substances in cigarettes, addiction to these substances is a serious mental disorder. Furthermore, smoking not only harms smokers, but also it is dangerous for the people around them. Studies show that secondhand smokers (individuals who do not smoke but exposed to cigarette smoke) are in danger of diseases more than smokers.
Additionally, forbidding smoking in workplaces and public places can have many benefits for society. Leaving no place for smoking in public can significantly reduce the number of smokers due to the lack of places for smoking. Moreover, establishing strict regulations against smoking in public would encourage smokers to quit smoking, because fewer people tend to smoke in public places. In addition, in offices where smoking is banned for employees, establishing smoke-free rooms can mitigate its harmful consequences.
In conclusion, the detrimental consequences of smoking on both smokers and nonsmokers cannot be ignored, and I firmly believe forbidding smoking can significantly reduce its drawbacks and would encourage smokers to quit smoking. This practice is undoubtedly beneficial for both businesses and societies.
