To what extent do you think the advantages of this policy outweigh the disadvantages? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

In some cities in some countries private mechanics are prohibited and only public commuting services allowed to enter into the city center. Even though, this prohibition might cause in convenience in traffic, but in my opinion, merits are more than disadvantages.

To commence with, not allowing personal transportation literally brings inconvenience to various aspects of society. For instance, some factories might have shortage of raw material due to unavailability of trucks to carry huge amount of loads. Moreover, some professionals might have to travel frequently from one place to another for work and it could lead to losing valuable opportunities during their commute time.

Granted, the inefficiency caused by lack of private vehicle cannot be neglected, but the advantages are invaluable. Environmental contamination is the most considerable issue all around the world. It is not only responsibility of the governments but also individuals to take practical actions to decrease the effects of climate change. Therefore, promoting the use of public transport on certain days could help people to learn about the benefits of reducing the carbon emission, which they might feel when private vehicle are banned in the cities. In addition to this, it would help other countries and communities to make such decision to prevent environment.

In conclusion, in spite of the fact that prohibiting private transport in city might be problematic for some commuters, it is a boon for all individuals as it support to carbon emission and save nature. Hence, the advantages of banning private vehicle in city and encouraging people to use buses and trains out-weigh the limitations.
