First group of companies want their employees to be competetive, while others prefer teamwork above all. While encouraging workers to be competetive let all workers to perform in a maximum efficient way, I believe that the friendly atmosphere between coworkers would also provide not to bad performance.
On the one hand, being competetive is a good method in reaching the maximum productivity. Workers, in order to be number one and receive a reward in the form of an extra salary, more days off and, most importantly, climb up company’s career ladder, will work with all their might tirelessly. A good example of this is the company called JUZ40, where empoyees can upgrade their role in the company, depending on their place in a local ranklist among workers.
On the other hand, maintaining a good relationship among colleagues have a impact on productivity. When, there is no one to compete, workers will act with each others as a partners, but not rivals. With time chemistry between colleagues will be improved, as a result efficiency will also increase. For example, in the Lego whole work equally divided between workers, and everybody has own function to do. They do not need any words to understand each others, so the speed of operation is amazing.
In conclusion, it is improtant to balance both being competetive and teamwork, in order to achieve the best performance. However, I believe that with great teamwork and in the friendly atmosphere, results also will be at the top level.
