Sports for thousands years has become langguage for frindship and fairness with the introduction of olympics, FIFA World cup, Asian Games and many other sporting events. In modern world sports event has become symbol of national pride, potitical agenda, and engine of economy.
In China, the government has been endorsing athlete to compete in international sports event and providing them with state of the art facilities, training and mentor. For some countries become the world’s championship has become a national pride and become tools to spreading country’s political agenda. in the last 60’s Indonesia, China and some developing countries has introduced Ganevo an international multi-sports event to compete with olympics that held by many first-world countries. In other places such as modern Indonesia sporting event has become center of tourism development. In between 2020 and 2023 numerous stadium and motorsport circuit has been built by the government to host some major event like Asian Games, Moto GP, Superbike, FIFA World Cup. The sporting event has been increase tourist traffic, hotel occupations, and many tourist attraction visit.
Due to it’s enourmous effect, Indonesian government has develop intergrated training center in Bogor and integrated venue in Southern Jakarta, the development not only enhancing Indonesia’s images on the global stage but raising some critics, some of law makers has critisized the current administration too levish spending while not providing adequate budget to maintain the facilities after the events. Other non-government organization named Indonesian Corruption Watch raised concern over the corruption during the contruction. Another concern is it’s poor built quality due to limited time.
Despite of the downside factor, sport facilities development has showing tremendous effect towards Indonesia’s images and tourism related economy. Indonesia currently cant get enough of enough events to propel it’s ambitions as global player.
