There are countries who build specialised building to train professional athletes to achieve international competition in sports, but not providing them for average people that everyone can use. On the whole, I think that this is a negative development, despite some of the benefits of such step.
One of the reasons why government could consider building facilities for their citizens is the fact that sport activities increase the lifespan of people, which would increase the number of happiness and healthiness levels of people. Atheletes, however, already have all benefits to do these tasks, including all fancy facilities, salaries, etc.
Also, the society that actively pursuing sport will decrease the level of crime, since sport builds a discipline and sane behavior. Such improvements in statistics could lead to better economy as a lot of people would be willing to do the work perfectly and on time, without hesitation.
On the other hand, it could be understandable why countries are willing to spend a big amount of money to make their national prodigies perform even better – to increase the status of their country, which, in return, could lead to bigger fundings for the economy of the country.
Evidently providing facilities not only for athletes but for everyone is something that has to be considered carefully. However, there is not doubt that it can boost health levels of citizens of corresponding countries. Overall, this is why it’s important to encourage all people to do sport, by providing more necessary building for them.
