Nowadays, several countries are having the chance to succeed internationally by providing specialized sports facilities aimed at training top athletes only, instead of expanding this opportunity so thateveryone can use them. Personally, I believe that this method is a negative development, as it leads to an unhealthy environment among locals and reduces the availability of the next generation ofathletes.
The countries that facilitate only top sportspeople can be found around the world. However, this comes with numerous negative impacts on the development of the country. Firstly, as a large proportion of subsidies and funds are spent on only chosen ones, others do not have the opportunity to use the best training facilities. This, in turn, reduces the number of people who do sports and train regularly, as this way of supporting only chosen ones demotivates other people, due to the belief that they are discouraged by local authorities. Over time, it leads to drastic reduction in the number of people who train, and increases the number of unhealthy ones.
Moreover, as those facilities are for only top players, younger generation of athletes will not be able to use them for training to become top athletes. Because, as the main focus would be on top athletes, the training sessions and courses of other athletes do not matter at all, impacting the productivity of the trainers. This, in turn, reduces the number of athletes suitable to compete in the next competitions.
In conclusion, there are numerous countries that prioritize providing only top athletes with sports facilities. However, I claim that this way will not make the country develop positively, due to several reasons, such as the reduction of healthy citizens and the availability of the subsequent generation of athletes.
