There are few nations that permit their older citizens to work up to any age as they desire. Its merits are efficient working of body organs as well as a state of independence, which take precedence over the demerit related to availability of lesser opportunities for freshers.
On one hand, allowing the older population to work keeps their body healthy. This is because, the workload will ensure the active movement of their every body part; thus, lowering down the chances of several diseases. Similarly, a ‘no-work’ state would invite various problems, such as obesity and limited mobility.
Besides putting their body organs into active use, the work facilitates the aged population to intact their independency. For fulfillment of their needs, the older people do have to look for others. Therefore, the money that they earn from their services could be utilized in their own desired manner.
However, if the older citizens continue to work up to a later age, then there would be limited job opportunities for young people. As the aged people tend to be more skilled and experienced in their work, which makes companies prefer them over freshers with less hands-on experience. Hence, this would give rise to a situation of ‘unemployed graduates’.
