Employers seek opportunities to enhance productivity of their employees, and one way to do this is to offer them subsidised healthy pursuits. However, a substantial number of employers are against this, as they do not find any potential positive outcomes. Both views will be discussed in this essay.
Healthy activities like strength training, cardio, sports lead an individual to feel more energetic. This way an employee can concentrate in their works more efficiently. For this reason, many employers find it necessary to provide their employees with subsidised physical acitivites. Moreover, healthy lifestyle not only improves a person’s physical health, but it is also good for mental well-being. To give a particular example, an employee leading a sedentary lifestyle often feels demotivated in their workplace because of low energy, so they fall behind in their performance. This demonstrates the importance of pursuing healthy activities and employers who recognize it, promote this behavior to their employees.
Conversely, it can be argued that providing employees with training that can upgrade their work quality is far more essential for an effective workplace. There has been multiple cases, where the root cause of low work input was not having sufficient skills. Therefore, many employers find subsidised health acitvities unnecessary.
Considering both sides of the arguement, the best approach would be to investigate the reason of inefficient work output, whether it is because of low energy level of the employees or not possessing necessary skills. Then, the employers should take measurements accordingly.
