The younger generation’s career prospects can be beneficially influnced by mastering digital literacy at a young age, however, it is still recommended by some specialists that for fostering kids’s face-to-face interaction, parental figures ought to reduce the extent of technological advancements’s use. Both points of view will be considered in the following essay and my own opinion will be stated.
Some members of society contend that digital skill set is absolutely crucial for children’s career path. The primary reason that can support this viewpoint is the accelerating pace of technological change in labour market. Due to the fact that in recent years the humanity has faced a groundbreaking technological development, there was an increase in an automated labour market. That is to say, most companies are in a growing need of employees who possesses technological proficiency. Consequently, it becomes easier for people to find a job, and most of the time a well-paying job, if they have advanced digital skills which can be cultivated in childhood. This can be examplified by individuals whose career path was simplified due to the acquirement of technological skills at a young age. More specifically, most children, who has spent most of their time learning computer skills by playing games or undertaking specialised computer courses, have a preference for combining their future career paths with IT as it seems easier for them.
Although it is believed that technology skills are essential for children’s future careers, caregivers are still recommended to limit children’s time devoted to technology in order to encourage real-life interaction. In other words, nowadays, the young generation dedicates a significant amount of time to technological advancements which most of the time results in social isolation that worsens communication skills. And in order to avoid this, mothers and fathers are suggested to reduce the amount of time children devote to smart devices. Consequently, kids will have more time to spend it outdoors with peers which will help them develop communication skills. Schools can be put as an example. More specifically, educational establishments restrict using phones in the school territory in order to foster pupils’ interaction and avoid digital distractions. Therefore, reducing the time devoted to technology is a suggestion from experts.
From my point of view, the use of technological advancements should be constrained for the youth as it is obvious that this adjustment will enable them to devote more time on the improvement of their talents that can be overshadowed if they are allowed to spend a lot of time using computers. To explain my point, nowadays kids allocate a detrimental amount of time to digital devices that leads to the lack of time. Therefore, they are not able to nurture their talents from an early age, however, limiting time dedicated to computers may provide opportunities for children to cultivate their abilities.
In conclusion, while certain individuals believe that parents should place constraints on the time devoted to the digital sphere and others argue that it is important to acquire technology skills at a young age, I think that caregivers regulate children’s use of electronic devices since it may increase the amount of time dedicated to talents.
