In modern days, there is an ongoing debate in society whether people who move to another country must try own this country’s culture as their own or protect their mother culture. Some people claim that it is so important to assimilate new country’s culture while others refute this idea. I am proponent of those who believe that every person should preserve his/her born country’s culture regardless of his/her living area.
On the one hand, it is so important learning the culture of country where people decide to live. In a new country people may have more different cuisine than those in your country. People can suffer from being used to new types of food which they have never tasted before moving to this country. In some countries, such as Mexico and India people use a lot of spices and flavors in their cuisines which is not something every person tried before. Another positive side is that when people learn new cultures, they enlarge their horizons and break stereotypes in their head about countries. For example, people know Russians as an alcoholic people, but if they research country’s history, they can find their contributions to world art. They have a lot of historical actors like Dostoyevski who gave important benefits to world literature.
On the other hand, I concur with those who believe that every citizen should continue their native culture. It is so important to keep on own culture to pass posterities. One of the most essential points of protecting the future of your nation is maintaining your culture. If people do not teach their native culture to children, it can affect to their nation’s future. Another reason is possibility of returning to their own country. When people come back to their motherland it can be difficult to be used to your native culture again.
To recap, I align with those who prefer preserving own country’s culture to assimilating another culture. I hope people who decide to move other country will try to preserve their native culture.
