The population is increasing at a massive rate, leading to high consumption of both natural and manmade resources. Therefore, some people believe that it is extremely difficult for a developing nation to be environmentally friendly. Whereas some others oppose this viewpoint. In this essay, I will be discussing both opinions and explaining why I think that a financially progressive country can be sustainable.
Natural resources are limited, but overall consumption is rising, leading to increased production of artificial goods and services. In some regions, the water levels are depleting as many households are installing boring water supply system. Additionally, natural resources such as petrol and diesel have been exhausted due to rising demand. Therefore, some individuals think it is highly unlikely for an economy to effectively follow sustainable practices.
However, everything is achievable if efforts are put in place effectively and efficiently. Activities such as rainwater harvesting, carpooling, and recycling can contribute to a better lifestyle, minimizing excessive consumption. Some countries are taking initiative to reduce the usage of plastics by banning their production in factories and promoting the recycling of paper. Moreover, some high-end brands have stopped selling products in plastic bags, instead shifting their focus to using recycled paper bags.
Developing nations are seen to have the highest consumption of goods and services. Therefore, it is relatively hard for these countries to follow best environmental practices. Nevertheless, it is not impossible to start implementing a few of these in daily activities. The general public and government can contribute to a sustainable environment for upcoming generations.
