While dressing smartly is believed to be important by some companies, appearance is not essential in other companies which value quality of work. This essay will discuss both perspectives and explain why I believe the benefits of having uniforms outweigh the other side.
Proponents of valuing quality work argue that appearance does not matter in a working environment. Wearing unique clothes is considered to foster workers’ creativity and imagination, which boosts their productivity and companies’ income. Furthermore, it also contributes significantly to develop sustainable companies. To illustrate, organizations which rely on innovations and novelty need to empower and encourage their employees to strongly express their personalities through clothes as a way to nurture their satisfaction and enjoyment about their jobs. As a result, they will keep concentration and focus on their jobs to promote their companies’ development and their career advancements.
However, critics of wearing personal clothes contend that it is more beneficial for employees to wear uniforms. Individuals who have specific occupations such as policemen and doctors need to wear dress code in order to carry out rescue missions or emergency tasks more effectively. Moreover, it also helps citizens be aware of who is in charge and follow their instructions, maintaining public stability and trust. For instance, while natural disasters occur more and more regularly, police and military play an important role in supporting and providing necessary aid. They should be instantly identified; therefore, ordinary people can cooperate more quickly, which enables rescue efforts more efficiently.
In conclusion, although dressing casually has undoubtedly resulted in the companies’ growth, wearing professionial outfits is far more advantageous. In my view, uniforms should be widely applied not only to easily identify but also to foster a professional image of each company.
