It is argued that appropriate clothes should be chosen to be worn at the office by workers, while others contend that the productivity of employees is essential. From my point of view, depending on the job, both qualities are crucial for the creation of a successful work environment.
On the one hand, some individuals believe that employees should be responsible for their appearance at work in terms of customer satisfaction. Proponents of this view state that the dress code of staff members plays an indispensable role in creating a first impression on customers. For instance, if a bank operator wears inappropriate dresses such as colorful ones, which do not seem serious, or clothes with tears, it would generate a bad first impression on customers, and eventually they might not be willing to prefer that particular bank again, which means a decrease in the customer base.
On the other hand, other people assert that employees’ work should not be judged according to their appearance. Instead, their productivity and passion for their work should be the main measurements to evaluate them. As an example, a head manager who found errors in various departments and provided solutions to tackle them improved the production levels and the work efficiency. However, the manager likes to wear such clothes that break the policy rules of the organization. Supporters of this view believe that the organization should keep him because he brought particular benefits.
To conclude, I agree with the perspective that both qualities play a vital role in the success of organizations. Ultimately, companies should create a dress code policy to ensure that the dresses of employees are suitable for the office, while valuing the efforts and benefits of workers.
