Nowadays, the majority of parents want to choose to take their children to traditional schools instead of choosing education at home. Many people suppose that teaching their children at home is better than going to school. In my mind, I believe that its advantages outweigh them significantly.
On the one hand, children who study at home do not have the opportunities to enroll in extracurricular activities. For example, when a traditional school holds an event for all students, this is an opportunity to connect with others to build good relationships. However, children who are taught at home can not take part, this negatively affects the comprehensive development of children, especially inadequate social skills like communicating, teamwork,… In the future, these deficiencies will also adversely impact their educational performance. Another problem is the lack of quality connections with others, because children only communicate with their parents. Therefore, they don’t have many friends or opportunities to make friends with people. As a result, without good relationships they can not ask or request others for help when they need it. This creates a sense of isolation for children- a common sign of children. Consequently, this can negatively affect their growth and career path.
Nevertheless, beside these disadvantages, I firmly believe that home schooling has many advantages. First of all, parents who are the best understand, they know what is the strong point of children, what they want to do. Therefore, they are the most cut out for providing their children with a personalized curriculum. If children are passionate about math, parents also set up a suitable learning program, which will make it easier for children to access and achieve a good performance. In addition, parents are the ones to decide when to teach, which creates a flexible time frame so children do not feel forced or bored when studying, because parents can adjust or provide a better learning environment at home. This is an effective way to enhance motivation and interest in children.
In conclusion, while home schooling also lacks interaction with others and access to high facilities, I strongly believe the advantages such as: increased personalized teaching, flexible schedules,… home schooling may be a beneficial choose for children and parents.
