People have differing views regarding the priority of the governments funding to strengthen the transportation field. Some argue that they should invest more on improving public transport, whereas others believe that they money should be provided to build more facilities like roadways and parking spots. However, both persepectives have their own merits, establishing a better transport system can actually benefit citizens to travel different places with ease.
On the one hand, with increasing number of personalized vehicles, there is an urgency to construct wider roads and parking areas. This is because of growing traffic congestion which can increase in instances of road traffic accidents. For example, if better road network is built in a city, it can largely facilitate people to enjoy their car rides and they can reached their destinations in reduced time. However, many people do not own cars and still depend on public transportation.
On the other hand, investing on public transport systems can largely benefit more people using them reach distant places. This is because some individuals do not afford buying private cars, making them dependent on these public transport systems. For instance, with recently constructed metro on national capital of India, many people from outskirts have been facilitated with affordable and reliable mode of transport. That is why, policymakers should prioritize on funding these modes of transportation.
In conclusion, investing on both public transportation and better road network are equally necessary. I, personally believe that increasing fundings for establishing public transport system has more benefits than facilitating private vehicle users, mainly because they are essential for people who cannot buy peronalized cars.
