Some individuals assume that it is considered to be the police officer who has charge to guide children to become good citizens in society. Others argue, including me, that it can also be a responsibility of parents, who are the early educators for their offspring to nurture to turn out to be well-educated people in the world.
On the one hand, enforcing the law is one of the crucial parts for the police to protect the public. Many people believe that if the youth, who are growing up under the guidance of police officers have more sense regarding to laws and orders that defend rights and safety in our society. In addition, the police’s duty is to reduce the occurrences of criminal activities such as murder, robbery and domestic violence, and to preserve the resident in a peaceful life. Therefore, if a child can learn more about the value of rights and freedoms at an early age, it can have several good impacts on their development with the creation of a better society.
On the other hand, others argue that parents are the first and most influential educators for children in their early years. If they take care of their kids with kindness and empathy such as listening their voices, respecting their thoughts or ideas, and applauding for their good behaviour, it is obvious that the child will develop in more positive attitudes with standard manners in community. Another point is that parents are more likely to understand their children’s personality and needs than the others. For example, a parent might notice that her kid is good at sports like basketball or football, and use that as an opportunity to educate him on the importance of teamwork and cooperation. With that kind of guidance, he can be nurtured good habits to contribute to the welfare of the society.
In conclusion, even though the policeman seems to have more duties to teach a child to become a good citizen with the protection of public’s life and property, I strongly believe that parents are the most suitable teachers for the children by educating to be a good person in our community.
