The rise of technology in education is a debated field as some people claim that it is bolstering students learning exsperience, while others counter with a belief that it is causing decline in critical thinking skills along with personal interactions. It can be stated that the rising involvement of technology allows wider range of resources and offers flexibility due to its certain assets. However, I believe that thinking critically and social interactions are crucial topics and should not be looked down upon.
On one hand, the opportunities that digital devices and servers are permitting to both teachers and students are note-worthy and invaluable. Although it is a nascent field in these areas, there are already public-accessed resource sites where more in-depth information can be retrieved. Moreover, Artificial Intelligence(AI) is providing everyone with information and teaching-styles tailored to their needs. For example, study conducted in Harvard University found that students who wrote their conscepts using ChatGPT were 50 percent more proficient in the said subjects than their other peers.
On the other hand, it is imperative to consider the potential consequences of using digital technology such as decrease in both cognitive skills and the ability to talk with others. Using technology for even feasible tasks rewires the brain to always choose easier ways which also affects memory retention. For example the survey done in our Termez Presidential School proved that pupils who uses more AI were also the ones that got lower IQ scores. Then again, usage of technology is always inversely proportional to the amount of time allotted to real-life conversations which means people will get more distant from speaking and collaborating when not using technology. For example, I have seen many teachers commenting that they were spending less time with their children because of cellphones.
In conclusion, while technology might give sources and feasibility, I am of opinion that their drawbacks far outweigh the advantages.
