Recently teenagers frequently hesitate about either taking a gap year before university or enrolling it immediately after school. I am going to discuss advantages and disadvantages of both opinions. Gap year is beneficial for considering about your future career, but it takes much time. Engaging to university might provide you personal and career growth, despite a wrong act can induce a disgustion on some compulsory subjects.
On one hand, gap year might help to broaden horizens as it allows to discover diverse approaches and spheres through trial and error. For example, I have been following a blogger Masha Poche, whose content is specifically based on education. Last year she took a Gap year in order to get herself together. She travelled around Europe a lot and clicked with numerous like-minded people who became a keystone in her life as they helped her to discover her dream field. However, it is common knowledge that people who are already used to living without nessecities, lose desire to continue studies in university. The statistics of Russian students revealed that an abundance of students did not enroll universities after a gap year, because they found a proper job for themselves.
On other hand, humans who start attending universities after school can start their independent life faster. My aunt who entered a higher education program three years ago finished it with a distinction and started working as a programmist Nevertheless, it is obvious that sometimes, when time is limited people do wrong decisions and do not enjoy their lectures much. It leads to burnouts and anxieties throughout the period. In Turkish university one young girl misunderstood with her selection and had to push herself to gain knowledge, because she hated that subjects much.
In conclusion, it is vital to weigh pros and cons of certain profession and compare them with your current goals and plans in life, otherwise a fatalistic mistake might be made.
