A segment of society contends that the usage of animals in medical investigation is undeniable for the profit of humans, whereas others accept that it is unlawful. This essay will explore both perspectives before presenting my viewpoint.
On one hand, it is argued that the animals used for scientific research are beneficial for humans. As investigation and medicinal trials on animals assist us in various concepts, it is helpful to the society to function efficiently and boost our economy. In other words, if a medicine is proven after studying animals, such as rabbits, mice, and guinea pigs, it can be used in the public leading to a healthy population, thereby upgrading the economy. In the U.S. , for instance, a study of remdesivir injection on animals during COVID-19 witnessed positive results and improved health outcomes. Therefore, using animals is certainly helpful to society.
On the other hand, other individuals opposed the use of animals. Because excessive use of animal species have resulted in exploitation of the environment and animals are on the verge of extinction. If there are relentless studies on distinct animals with no regulation, then we would definitely lose wildlife. Consequently, other food chains get affected. In China, for example, about 42.3% of animal species are endangered during the trial of astrazeneca vaccination in 2019. Hence, it is inappropriate to utilise animals for our medical investigation.
To conclude, although animals are helping us in approving the right medicine in public, it is always better to find other alternatives instead of animals. This will assist us in saving the ecosystem.
