It is often debated whether violent movies motivate crime. I moderately agree with this view. Though violent shows instigate aggressive behavior through revealing crime tactics, a number of factors, such as individual characteristics, and social and financial issues, also drive criminal activities.
To begin with, criminal activities are incredibly influenced by crime series when people imitate an aggressive character. Psychologically imbalanced people find the crime shows more appealling to explore diverse tactics to commit crime, and emulate the vilain character in the film. A good example can be the crime pattern of serial killer. The killer explores different ideas of killing through aggressive movies. Besides, they can get ideas about escaping strategies. Thus, The criminal behavior is largely encouraged when harmful people watch the show, and need to be successful in committing crime.
Admittedly, violence doesn’t always trigger criminal activities. People usually enjoy violent cinemas for suspense and excitement. Hence, the violent shows are not the primary driver for criminal behavior. Other factors including inherent criminal psychology, unemployment, and poverty predominantly encourage crime. For instance, a psycho killer is criminal by born, and his or her criminal behavior is more intensified by unemployment. Therefore, the root cause of committing crime is not movies, but innate and social factors.
In conclusion, crime shows offer insights for criminals in terms of tactics learning and escaping from being caught. However, unemployment and individual criminal mindset are likely to be the primary drivers for criminal activities, and aggressive movies are not only a motivator of criminal behavior. Rather, such movies can offer entertainment and excitement among general people.
