The statement that a significant number of modern scientific researches are bootless errand is a compelling dilemma. In my opinion, while some research projects are undoubtedly useless, there is a significant portion of scientific endeavor which serves as a driver of a progress. I partly disagree with given idea which is an overgeneralization.
To begin with, there is no doubt that there are scientific projects which are insufficient. Some research are poorly designed, inadequately funded, or lack methodology. For instance, there are studies which use little data and represent a clear waste of resources. Furthermore, the pressure to publish in high-impact journals can incentivize researchers to produce superficially impressive but ultimately meaningless results. Such an approach compromises the sense of scientific process and wastes resources.
However, there are some striking arguments that prove that a lot or research bring a positive impact to humanity. It is known that research has led to countless life-saving medications, treatments and diagnostic tools. To illustrate, there are a lot of studies concentrated on cancer, which are expensive but crucial for improving human health. Moreover, research constantly pushes the boundaries of human knowledge across various disciplines: medicine, engineering, technology and the social sciences. Even minimal advances contribute to a larger body of knowledge.
In conclusion, it is inaccurate to label a significant portion of scientific research as wasteful. While inefficiencies exist, the overall impact of such projects to human progress is undeniable.
